Here’s a letter:
Hi Hal,
I read about what u say about the personality types and I would like to know if a choleric/melancholy is compatible with a choleric/melancholy - the same personality.
My boyfriend has the same temperament as me and I would like to know if that makes sense. I am not completely sure if I am a choleric melancholy I may also be a sanguine. I wish my bf to be more relaxed and funny and not so serious all the time and he as well wants me to be more serious and not so “childish”. Is it possibe to work on the relationship that we get along and not be annoyed about the other person’s personality? Are we even compatible?
Susanne
And I reply:
Two Cholerics can get long ONLY if they both share the same ideals and beliefs. And that is NOT common. If he considers you “childish” you may have more Sanguine than you currently think.
Cholerics are most frustrated with Sanguines – they are bothered by what they consider meaningless talk.
Since you cannot change another person’s temperament, you either have to get along naturally, learn coping skills, or “agree to disagree” on topics that cause strife.
Hope that helps – you might want to seek out a more detailed Temperament test to refine your knowledge of your temperament type.

3I am of a personality I am not sure of.I happen to have much of my strengths as choleric and sanguine and very few as melancholic but many of my weaknesses as sanguine and choleric.I can be at times in a jovial mood but other times I am somehow calm. I am at times few with words to say but other times they come out spontaneously. My mum is choleric-melancholic while my dad is melancholic. At times I flashback events and think how I would have reacted to some situations and maybe the right words I would have used. When I speak sometimes in public the words might come out clearly but my hands shake wondering if my dad’s drunkenness could have caused the effect or if it is part of my personality. At times I might laugh uncontrollably and loudly to an extent of being a nuisance to others.I am very hot tempered and easily irritated and at times can be very insensitive and rude. I am very active and always think of how I can be a top achiever in sports,be popular and being rich.I am very responsible and self-driven. In addition to that I always think of how I can be a musician rocking the crowd. I am also principled. Tell me of which temperament I belong and the careers best suited for my temperament. Please assist.
